The Herald Sun reveals that Victorian safety sentiment is the lowest in the nation

A recent feature in the Herald Sun has shone a spotlight on a topic close to all our hearts: neighbourhood safety. New polling from our community has revealed that many Australians feel their sense of safety is slipping, with one-third of respondents nationwide feeling less secure than last year.

The sentiment is particularly strong in Victoria, where 45% of residents reported their sense of safety has fallen. Victorians also ranked their overall neighbourhood safety at 3.72 out of five, slightly below the national average of 3.85.

Our CEO, Danny Gorog, spoke to the Herald Sun about why these figures matter. He highlighted that maintaining local amenities, those everyday things like clear footpaths, working street lights, and clean parksis vital for a sense of security.

“These results highlight the need for prompt attention at a national and state level over community safety. They also show how important councils and service providers are in maintaining local safety and amenity.” Danny Gorog, Snap Send Solve CEO

When local issues like graffiti, dumped rubbish, or broken equipment are addressed promptly, it doesn't just tidy up the street, it helps everyone feel a bit more comfortable in their own neighbourhood.

While the data shows some big challenges ahead, it also shows that people care deeply about where they live. By continuing to report the "small" things, you’re helping to make sure our shared spaces get the attention they need to stay safe, clean, and welcoming for everyone.
