FiveAA Adelaide: South Australia named the fastest-growing state for abandoned trolley Snaps

Adelaide, we have a trolley problem.

Abandoned shopping trolleys are becoming an increasingly common sight on our streets. Our General Manager, Jordan Gesundheit, recently joined FiveAA Adelaide to chat about the latest reporting trends, and the fresh data shows that South Australia is leading a national spike in trolley numbers.

Our latest reporting figures showcase a massive surge in local community action across the state as residents spot these stray assets in their local areas:

  • South Australia has recorded a staggering 50% year-on-year increase in abandoned trolley Snaps, making it the fastest-growing state for trolley Snaps in the country.
  • In Greater Adelaide alone, monthly Snaps have officially doubled, climbing from roughly 500 a month in mid-2024 to over 1,000 Snaps a month in early 2026.
  • Abandoned trolleys, dumped rubbish, graffiti, and potholes remain the top issues flagged by local residents across the platform.

As Jordan explained during the broadcast, identifying who actually owns the stray trolley is often the trickiest part:

"The complication comes when they're not sure who to report the issue to... effectively, what we want to do is make it as simple as possible to report anything that you might see when you're out and about, and make sure it goes to the right place."

If you're out and about and spot a trolley where it shouldn't be, don't just walk past. Get Snapping!
