Albury City Council cracks down on playground vandalism

In what might be one of the more unpleasant social media trends to hit Aussie parks, Albury City Council is now cleaning playgrounds and public areas after reports of people deliberately urinating on equipment, all for the sake of a TikTok challenge.

As reported by The Border Mail, the #PeeChallenge has seen individuals filming themselves urinating on public assets across Albury, including the Harold Mair Bridge, Lavington Square and even children’s play equipment at Noreuil Park and the Memorial Bowl.

Mayor Kevin Mack didn’t hold back, calling the behaviour “disgraceful” and “disgusting,” especially with the health risks involved.

“[Urine is] not sterile, it's full of gunk and people can get sick from that gunk.”

The mayor urged locals to report any incidents or suspected damage through Snap Send Solve so council crews can respond quickly.

“If people see this stuff or understand it’s happened, report it to Snap Send Solve or ring our office, because we’ll get people up to clean it.”
