Yahoo News reveals reasons your bin could be rejected

A recent Yahoo News article has highlighted some common mistakes that could see your bin left uncollected at the roadside. Waste management experts warn that if a bin exceeds its 80kg weight limit or if the lid cannot fully close, it may be refused for safety and environmental reasons.

Overfilling your bin makes it difficult for collectors to handle and increases the chance of rubbish falling out and blowing through the neighbourhood. The report also cautioned against a popular but "harmful" habit: stuffing excess general waste into recycling bins. This contamination can result in an entire load of recyclable material being sent to landfill.

While managing household waste is a key part of local maintenance, Snap Send Solve data featured in the article reveals that dumped rubbish remains the biggest issue across the country. In 2025, over 200,000 complaints of dumped rubbish were made via the app, making it the number one concern for Australians.

By keeping bin lids closed and reporting dumped rubbish when you see it, you are helping to keep our streets clean and ensuring that local waste collection runs smoothly.
