It’s no secret that potholes and graffiti are some of the most visible issues on our streets. But which one is causing more frustration for locals? Our CEO Danny Gorog recently joined Ross and Russ on 3AW Breakfast to shed light on the growing problem of potholes and graffiti in Victoria — and the stats are eye-opening.
In 2024, Snap Send Solve received 6,100 Snaps of potholes on major roads maintained by VicRoads — a massive 137% increase compared to the previous year. In contrast, reports of graffiti on freeways totalled just under 1,000, a 60% year-on-year increase.
Danny noted that potholes are not only a leading concern for drivers but also a costly one. “The cost to the community for potholes, I think would be enormous,” he said. From damaged tyres to safety risks, potholes are leaving a mark — literally and figuratively.
We don't just collect Snaps — we also gather feedback on how well issues are being Solved. Here’s what the data tells us:
These numbers highlight the need for more effective and timely action on road maintenance.
While graffiti might grab attention, potholes are a more urgent concern due to their direct impact on safety and costs. As Danny shared, “A friend of mine needs new tyres every three months because of the potholes on Dandenong Road.”
Reports to Snap Send Solve show that people are six times more likely to report potholes than graffiti, reflecting just how much of a daily nuisance they’ve become.
