Illegal parking is wreaking havoc on WA residents, and the numbers are staggering.
According to exclusive Snap Send Solve data highlighted by 9 News Perth, there have been nearly 6,000 Snaps of illegal parking this year alone—a massive 61% increase from last year.
Reporter Michael Genovese pointed out that this surge aligns with new research showing “8 out of 10 commuters choose to drive, while just 12% use public transport.”
Illegal parking isn't just a minor inconvenience; it has significant repercussions for communities. It can block emergency vehicle access, create dangerous conditions for pedestrians, and reduce the availability of parking spaces for those who genuinely need them.
Despite this, Transport Minister Rita Saffioti noted, “WA has had the best bounce back in relation to public transport patronage.”
